About Us

The Maraboon Rural Veterinary Service is owned and operated by The Maraboon Animal Health (Directed by Alec & Dr Angela Sutherland). 

The Maraboon Animal Health began in 2011 as a Small animal practice in Emerald QLD known as the Maraboon Vet Surgery. Dr Ang and Alec bought this existing clinic as a small 2 vet practice which with Dr Angi's help quickly became renowned as Emerald's favourite vet. Originally from Canada, Dr Ang brought years of experience and talent to the clinic, whilst building on exceptional customer service and brining a compassionate nature towards animals. 

In 2016, Dr Ang and Alec followed their dreams and expanded the Maraboon Animal Health, by opening Stage 1 of the Maraboon Pet Resort. This Pet Resort is the first of its kind in the Central Highlands and features premium dog accommodation, diveine cattery, Emerald's only Doggy Day Care facility, Grooming Studio & Animal Transport Service. 

In 2018, The Maraboon Vet Surgery moved into a brand new purpose built hospital, ready to house the now 5-vet Small Animal Practice. With state-of-the-art features and and the most modern diagnostic equipment, the Maraboon Vet Surgery is the Premier Small Animal Vet Surgery in Emerald. 

In 2021, The Maraboon Animal Health opened a satellite small animal clinic in Blackwater QLD (Maraboon Vet Surgery Blackwater), which services the Blackwater community, 3 days a week. 

In 2023, The Maraboon Animal Health expanded again, this time focussing on the missing link in the chain, large animals. This mobile large animal service will be able to provide cattle and equine veterinary services to the Central Highlands community.
